In the building industry, renovation accounts for over 70% of the window market. Thus, one of the methods of window renovation can be through renovation glazing.
This technique is used when you want to improve the thermal insulation of your windows. Renovation glazing is always made of double glazing and is almost exclusively used on wooden windows.
It is possible to fill the insulating glass with argon gas to improve its characteristics and thus have a positive impact on the Ug-value of your windows.
Without demasking: the original single glazing is cut or broken off flush with the glazing beads, and the renovation glazing covers the old rebate.
With demasking: the original single glazing is dismantled, after removal of the glazing bead or flashing, and the renovation glazing replaces it.
Choosing to use renovation glazing will have a positive impact on the thermal insulation of building windows, even allowing you to gain a rank in the energy performance of your home in some cases.
Renovationglazing allows you to switch from single to double glazing, thus limiting energy loss.

THE OVERGLAZING METHOD
In addition to renovation glazing, there is another way to limit energy loss in your homes with wooden windows:
this is overglazing.
This consists of applying new glazing to the original glazing, leaving an air space between the two. This limits the exchange of temperature between the interior and exterior of the house.
Overglazing increases energy performance while maintaining the original window frame, the principle being to fit the additional glazing to the basic window by means of hinges. This makes it easy to open and close your skylight, especially for cleaning.
