Self-cleaning glazing is glass on which a specific coating has been applied.
This coating uses a combination of UV rays from the sun and water to eliminate accumulated dirt.
This transparent coating made up of a photocatalytic and hydrophilic material has been patented. This coating uses a combination of UV rays from the sun and water to eliminate accumulated dirt on the external surface. When subjected to the ultraviolet radiation from natural light, organic dirt is broken down and disaggregated. The process then continues when the rain or water hits the glass. Instead of forming droplets, on the hydrophilic layer the water spreads out uniformly across the whole area, draining off and washing away dirt from the glass down the incline.
Self-cleaning glass is perfect for positions where the glass is difficult to access and cleaning is onerous, such as high-rise buildings, roof windows, verandas or atria. It can be used in single (float or laminated) or double glazing. It is available in:
- 4 and 6 mm
- 44² laminated glass
- 6 mm with a Suncool solar control layer
- 4 and 6 mm tempered glass without solar control
Self-cleaning glazing is a technical product that requires precautions during transportation and fitting. Please see the notices below for more information.
